Abstract

Road accidents remain one of the major causes of fatal injuries worldwide, particularly in high-speed collisions where traditional passive safety mechanisms such as airbags, seatbelts, and crumple zones may fail to provide complete protection. Most existing safety technologies focus on minimizing damage during impact rather than preventing fatality in unavoidable crash conditions. In this study, the development of a Rocket Assisted Car Driver Seat Ejection System is suggested, where the objective is to increase chances of survival by ejecting the driver seat before the collision occurs. The concept has been taken from existing airplane ejection seats and is executed with the use of ATmega328P microcontroller, obstacle detection sensors (HC-SR04), speed sensors, Bluetooth communication modules (HC-05), and MOSFET switch. An ultrasonic obstacle detector continuously detects the distance between the vehicle and an obstacle ahead, whereas speed detectors detect the speed of the car. Upon exceeding the threshold values set on the basis of a combination of distance and speed measurements, the microcontroller triggers the actuator system to perform the seat ejection process. Parachute system has also been considered for landing purposes. Results of tests show that the prototype effectively detected the collision scenario and successfully triggered the seat ejection process.
