Solar-Powered Outdoor Air Purifier with IOT-Based Air Quality Monitoring Using Esp32 and Thing speak

Air pollution has become one of the important environmental concerns due to various reasons like urbanization, industries, and pollution caused by automobiles. Breathing in polluted air outdoors can lead to several health issues like respiratory problems, heart disease, etc. Existing air cleaners have been used indoors and are very much dependent on electricity source for their operation. This paper puts forward the concept of outdoor air cleaner using solar energy where the air quality can be monitored with the help of sensors based on the Internet of Things through ESP32 and Thing Speak cloud server. The design is totally free from power dependency and works entirely on solar power. For monitoring the environment, gas and smoke detectors (MQ-135 & MQ-2) have been included to sense any pollutant in the surrounding environment. In case of detecting pollutants above certain threshold values, the fan fitted with HEPA filter will be turned on to purify the air outdoors. The suggested approach offers a small-scale, affordable, lightweight, and environmentally friendly method for use in the outdoors in air purification and environment monitoring. The experimental results suggest that the developed system is capable of performing accurate pollution monitoring and automatic air purification using efficient solar energy. It can be used as a part of smart city architecture, in open spaces, educational establishments, and environmental health monitoring applications.
